The mission of the Infectious and Immunologic Diseases Research Center at the BWH Brigham Research Institute (BRI) is to: Promote excellence in basic and translational clinical science in Infectious and Immunologic Diseases, Enhance informal and formal collaborative opportunities among researchers so as to create an environment conducive to the growth of the research agenda, Communicate these advances and insights to the larger outside community of scientists, physicians, policy makers and the general public and to Enhance philanthropic support for Infectious and Immunologic Diseases research.
The Center encompasses research on infectious agents including: HIV and oncogenic Human Papilloma and Herpes Viruses (EBV and KSHV), Streptococci, Anaerobic Bacteria, Enterobacteria, Mycobacteria, Malaria and Fungi. Our investigators are leading research in key areas of infectious and immunologic disease. Our investigators also conduct research on many aspects of basic immune responses in inflammatory, infectious and autoimmune diseases, which has resulted in the identification and characterization of many molecules that are crucial for the initiation and/or the termination of immune responses.
